Currently a captain of the nationally-ranked Blugold football team, Maas has lettered his first three years and has also earned a letter in wrestling. He was the team defensive lineman of the year last year when he earned a spot on the All-Conference second team.

Maas is currently a representative and committee chair on the student athlete advisory committee. He has been a volunteer with Special Olympics and is involved with the football team’s Reading/Recess program in a local elementary school.

Maas is also a member of the university's renowned Singing Statesmen and the Concert Choir. He is an elementary education major with a 3.66 GPA and expects to graduate in December, 2005.
