Fri, Dec 6, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Eagles Qualifies For NCAA Gymnastics Posted: Thursday, March 31, 2005 Eagles is one of only four Division III athletes to qualify for the NCAA meet. In the sport of gymnastics, there are no divisions. Thus, the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association was formed to provide a national meet for Division III athletes. That meet will be taking place on the campus of UW-La Crosse Friday and Saturday of this week. The NCAA is staging six region meets next weekend with qualifiers advancing to the NCAA national championships April 21-23 in Auburn, Alabama. Six teams have qualified in each of the six regions in addition to five all-arounds not on a qualifying team and four individual event specialists from non-qualifying schools. Eagles, the lone senior on the Blugold squad, tied for first in the all-around competition at the recent Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/NCGA West Regional meet in Whitewater. She won the floor exercise competition, was second on uneven bars, third on vault and tied for 12th on balance beam. She is the school record holder in all-around (37.875), vault (9.65) and floor exercise (9.825). The other Division III qualifiers are UW-La Crosse's Nina Schubert, also in the North Central Region, on bars and Brockport State (NY) all-arounds Carrie Santore and Sarah Bulka in the Northeast Region at the University of New Hampshire. - TP -Editors Note - for a complete list of NCAA qualifiers, please go to NCAA Sports ... additional information on the North Central Region can be found at the University of Utah athletics site |
