(UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire softball player Jess Freagon (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association second team All-American, NFCA officials announced today. Freagon joins just eight other Blugolds who have earned All-American honors. The last time a Blugold was honored was in 2008 when Casey Leisgang was a second team selection. Freagon recently earned a spot on the NFCA Great Lakes All-Region team for the first time in her career. She was also named a first team All-WIAC selection. She led the team and WIAC with 53 RBIs, a Blugold season record. Freagon also tallied the most homeruns (eight) and doubles (13), while tying for the most hits with 59 for the Blugolds. She averaged .404 (59-for-146) on the year and scored 33 runs. |
