Thu, Jan 16, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Falls on Final Day of Spring Trip By: Ashley Hofer, Sports Information Student HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team lost the concluding competition of its spring break trip, falling to Centre College (Ky.) 7-2 today. Lexi DeMario (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match for one of the Blugolds’ two wins. Stephanie Wolf (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) also came close to victory in the No. 5 match, winning the first set 6-2. However, she ultimately dropped the next two sets 6-1, 10-8. The duo of Emily Hiebl (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Wolf picked up the other Eau Claire victory in doubles play. Battling in the No. 3 match, Hiebl and Wolf defeated the competition 8-2. The loss gives the Blugold an overall record of 10-5 this season. Eau Claire won four out of the five matches on the trip to South Carolina. The Blugolds will return home to host the College of St. Scholastica at on Friday, April 1. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. |
