MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's hockey player Kristin Faber (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) and men's hockey player Jordan Singer (So.-Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) have been named this week's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association players of the week, conference sports information director Brian Monahan announced today.

Faber was also named the Division III player of the week according to a blog post by Derek Dunning on USCHO.com.

Singer scored five goals and had three assists this weekend as the Blugolds swept St. Scholastica (Minn.). In a 5-3 victory Friday, the Blugolds came from behind to win. Singer assisted on the Blugolds' first goal and later scored a goal to get the Blugolds within one goal. He scored two more times later in the game, one at 15:02 in the second and one at 18:03 in the third, to record his first career hat-trick. On Saturday in a 5-2 win, he assisted on the game-winning goal and scored two more goals to provide a cushion. He scored once on a power-play at 17:42 in the second and had an empty-net goal at 19:13 in the final period. Singer now leads the Blugolds with 13 goals and 11 assists for the season.

Faber helped the Blugolds remain undefeated in the new year as they won two games against UW-Stevens Point, a team that received votes in the latest USCHO.com poll. On Friday in a 5-3 win, Faber picked up the fourth hat-trick of her career. She scored at 3:34 in the second period to tie the game at 1-1 and again at 19:12 in the period to tie the game at 3-3. Faber then scored a short-handed goal at 15:48 in the third period, which eventually proved to be the game-winner. In Saturday's 3-1 win, Faber scored on an empty net with 39 seconds to play. She now has 14 goals on the season to go along with nine assists. "Faber's efforts this weekend were that of a true leader and great competitor," head coach Mike Collins said. "With a young, beat up team, she took the team on her back and scored four times at critical moments to lead to the first-ever sweep of Stevens Point in program history."
