EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - While UW-Stout led at halftime, the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team outscored the Blue Devils 46-22 in the second half to win 71-50 at Zorn Arena tonight.

After being down by three points at halftime and getting down by five points in just over two minutes into the second, the Blugolds started a run that lasted the majority of the second half.

In a 12-minute stretch that ended with just over five minutes to play, the Blugolds outscored Stout 35-3, including a 24-0 run over the final nine minutes of the stretch.

The Blugolds’ dominating performance was led largely by Hannah Mesick (Sr.-Chatfield, Minn.), who scored all 17 of her points in the second half. She also finished with 13 rebounds to lead the game, recording her fifth double-double of the season.

Eau Claire came up big on the boards, pulling down 45 rebounds to Stout’s 24, including 15 on the offensive glass.

The Blue Devils, who were led by Whitney Rawdon’s 18 points, finished shooting just 29.4 percent (15-for-51), 6-for-26 (23.1 percent) in the second half. Eau Claire went 50 percent from the field (25-for-50).

Also in double-digit scoring for Eau Claire was Leah Rempert (So.-Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) with 13 points. Nicole Christianson (Jr.-Chetek, Wis.) performed well for the Blugolds, pulling down 10 rebounds while picking up seven points, seven assists and two steals.

The Blugolds will be on the road Wednesday facing UW-Superior. Action will get underway at 7 p.m.
