Fri, Dec 6, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics start Year With Win Posted: Friday, January 7, 2005 OSHKOSH - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team started off the 2005 season the right way defeating UW-Oshkosh and Winona State with a score of 176.90 here tonight at the Kolf Sports Center. Alison Eagles (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) started off the year strong winning the vault, balance beam and all-around competitions. Eagles won the all-around competition with a score of 36.70. She scored a 9.325 to win the vault edging out Oshkosh's Vanessa Virbitsky's 9.300. Eagles tied with teammate Jenny Wick (Jr.-Sartell, MN) for first place honors on the balance beam. Both Eagles and Wick scored a 9.375 to tie for first in the event. Eagles also earned a third place finish in the floor exercise with a score of 9.25. Theresa Lynch (Fr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) earned first place honors in the uneven bars with a score of 9.125. Lynch won convincingly with the next closest score coming from Oshkosh's Alyssa Moreck at 8.85. The Blugolds will be in action next when they host the Eau Claire Invite Saturday, Jan. 15 at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center. The invite is set to begin at 1 p.m. - JL - |
