(UWECBlugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire gymnasts have advanced to the final round of competition in their events after the first day of the 2010 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship at Springfield College. Danielle Schulzetenberg (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) is currently tied for fifth on the balance beam as she scored a 9.575. RachelAnn Anderson (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) will also compete Saturday in the floor exercise. She finished today with a 9.525 in the event, in a five-way tie for 11th place. The top 14 individuals compete in the final round of each event, which will be contested tomorrow beginning at 2:30 p.m. (Eastern). Schulzetenberg also earned All-American honors today as she tied for ninth in the all-around competition with a career-best 37.025. The all-around finals and team competition were contested today. UW-La Crosse won its third straight national title and 14th overall. In the all-around, the top 10 individuals earn NCGA All-American honors while the top six in the vault, bars, beam and floor earn NCGA First Team All-American recognition.
