Thu, Dec 5, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Earns First Dual Meet Win Versus Stout Since 2006 By: BJ Pickard, Sports Information Student MENOMONIE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team won its first dual meet against UW-Stout since 2006, defeating the Blue Devils 176.050-175.475 at Johnson Fieldhouse on Sunday. The last dual meet win for the Blugolds against Stout came more than four years ago on January 6, 2006, when the team won by a margin of 168.525-162.95. In Sunday's action, Sarah Hulbert (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) tied for first place in the vault with a mark of 9.375. In the uneven bars, Rachel Behmer (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn./West Lutheran) placed second with a score of 9.150. As a team, the Blugolds scored a season-high 42.425 in the event. Danielle Schulzetenberg (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) had the Blugolds' best finish on the balance beam, taking third with a 9.250. Schulzetenberg and RachelAnn Anderson (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) also tied for third in the floor exercise with a score of 9.175. In the all-around, Schulzetenberg and Cece Solem (Fr.-Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley) placed second and third, respectively with 35.750 and 33.900. After the victory, Eau Claire improves to 4-7 on the season. The team returns home for a matchup with UW-Oshkosh on Friday. This will be the final regular season meet before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship. Action will get underway at 6 p.m. |
