(UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's basketball player Geoff Probst (Sr.-Moose Lake, Minn.) and gymnast Danielle Schulzetenberg (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) have earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) athlete of the week honors, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today. Probst reached the 1,000-point mark in his career as the Blugolds defeated UW-Platteville 79-70 on Feb. 6. He scored a game-high 29 points, just three shy of his career-high, giving him 1,006 points for his career, tying for 39th on the Blugolds' all-time scoring list. Probst converted 11-of-13 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to register his second double-double of the year and added two steals and one assist. In a 76-71 victory over UW-River Falls on Feb. 3, he had 14 points, four rebounds and one assist. Schulzetenberg won the all-around competition at the 29th Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitational at UW-La Crosse on Feb. 5. She scored a career-best 35.775 as the Blugolds took second place out of three teams. Schulzetenberg tied for first on the balance beam (9.425), tied for second in the floor exercise (9.325), took ninth on the uneven bars (8.200) and 11th on the vault (8.825). |
