Thu, Dec 5, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Finishes Second at UW-La Crosse Invite By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director LA CROSSE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team recorded a season-best score of 175.350 to finish in second place out of the three teams at the 29th Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitational in Mitchell Hall tonight. La Crosse won the invite with 180.025 while UW-Oshkosh was third with 174.500. Eau Claire took the top spot in three out of five competitions as it scored season-highs in every event. Danielle Schulzetenberg (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) tied for the top spot on the balance beam with a 9.425. La Crosse's Kelsey Matula finished with the same mark. Schulzetenberg also won the all-around competition with a 35.775, a career-best. Winning the uneven bars tonight was Rachel Behmer (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn./West Lutheran) with a career-best mark of 9.375. She and Matula were the only gymnasts in the event to finish with a 9.0 or better. On the vault, Sarah Hulbert (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had the Blugolds' best finish, taking second with a 9.225 while Schulzetenberg and RachelAnn Anderson (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) tied for second place in the floor exercise with a 9.325. Next Friday the Blugolds will head to Menomonie for the John Zuerlein Invite, which will feature UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stout along with the Blugolds. The invite will begin at 6 p.m. |
