Mon, Mar 16, 2026 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Johnston Leads Wrestlers at Pete Willson Invite By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director WHEATON, Ill. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) led the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational as the Blugolds tied for 21st today. The Blugolds picked up 23 points as a team while UW-Parkside won the invite with 175.5 in the 30-team field. Heidelberg University (Ohio) took second place with 108.5 and UW-La Crosse finished third with 92. Johnston recorded 15.5 points for the Blugolds in the 149 pound bracket. He won matches with a pin, a major decision and two other decisions. Joe Pitsch (So.-Oshkosh, Wis./North) also scored points for Eau Claire, picking up four in the heavyweight category while Zach Weisenberger (So.-Ladysmith, Wis.) had three points at 141 pounds and Jon Ames (Sr.-Genoa, Wis./Viroqua) scored a half point at 157 pounds. Weisenberger and Pitsch both had pins at the invite as well. The Blugolds will be back in action next Friday when they host UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center. Saturday they will hold the annual UW-Eau Claire Invitational. |
