(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team competed in the 2009 Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open wrestling tournament, held at Augsburg College's Si Melby Hall today. Brian Anderson (Sr.-Three Lakes, Wis.) led the Blugolds with a third place finish at 174 pounds in the bronze bracket. The Blugolds also had two wrestlers finish sixth while two others took eighth. Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) recorded a sixth place finish in the 149 pound silver bracket and Mike Walker (Sr.-Shorewood, Wis.) was sixth in the 157 pound bronze bracket. Taking eighth at the meet were Will Christ (So.-Shell Lake, Wis.) and Joe Pitsch (So.-Oshkosh, Wis./North). Christ competed in the 184 pound silver bracket and Pitsch was in the heavyweight silver bracket. The Blugolds will next be at home for the first time this season Tuesday (Nov. 24). Competition against Luther College (Iowa) will get underway at 7 p.m. |
