Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Award Winners Announced Posted: Friday, May 8, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire head gymnastics coach Jean DeLisle recently announced the team award winners for the 2008-09 season. Sharing Most Valuable Performer honors were Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) and Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear). Sutherland competed in 10 different meets for the Blugolds this year. She established a career-best mark on the uneven bars and finished in the top five in a number of meets this season. Sutherland received Academic All-American honors this season as well. Lynch came off from an injury from last season and was one of two Blugolds to advance to the national meet. Lynch ended up tying for 18th place on the uneven bars at nationals. She also earned All-Conference recognition with her sixth place finish in the on the uneven bars at this year's WIAC Championship while she established a career-best mark in the event. It was the second time in Lynch's career she received MVP honors. Karlee Shaw (Jr.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) finished with the teams Most Improved Award. Before this year, Shaw competed in only two meets in 2007 for the Blugolds. This year she competed in 10 meets and set career-best marks in the vault and bars. Presented with the Most Spirited Award was Lanai Peer (Fr.-Prior Lake, Minn.). Due to an injury before the start of the season, Peer was unable to compete for the Blugolds this year. - KM - |
