Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnasts Fall In Final Regular Season Meet Posted: Friday, February 27, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Although the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team led through two rotations, the Blugolds were unable to hold on and ended up falling to Gustavus Adolphus College 178.225-175.725 tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center. Sarah Hulbert (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had the Blugolds' best finish of the evening, taking first place on the vault. She finished with a 9.475 while the second place finisher from Gustavus finished with a score of 9.375. Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) took second on both the balance beam and in the all-around. She scored a 9.100 to lead the Blugolds on the balance beam and finished with a 35.475 in the all-around competition. The highest Blugold finish in the floor exercise came from Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear). Because of an injury last season, the last time she competed in the floor exercise was March 8, 2007. In her first attempt on the event since that time, Lynch earned a score of 9.200. Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) led the Blugolds on the uneven bars, taking third place with a score of 9.125. Karlee Shaw (Jr.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) also turned in an impressive performance in the event with a fourth place finish. She scored 9.075 this evening while her previous career-best in the event was 8.350. Up next Eau Claire will head to Winona, Minnesota for the 2009 WIAC Championships/NCGA Regionals. The meet is scheduled for next Friday. - KM - |
