Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Comes Up Short Against Warhawks Posted: Friday, February 20, 2009 WHITEWATER, Wis. - Despite achieving its highest total score of the season, the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team fell short of its first win of the season, losing to UW-Whitewater at Williams Center Gymnastics Arena. The Blugolds recorded a total of 175.925 points while Whitewater finished the meet with 187.625 total points. Eau Claire is still in search of its first win of the season, falling to 0-12 and the Warhawks improve to 6-2 on the year. Five Blugolds recorded season-highs in the meet, highlighted by Anna Sutherland's (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) 9.500 mark in the floor exercise, good for a second place finish. Combined with her scores in the vault, uneven bars and balance beam, Sutherland finished fourth in the all around competition with a score of 35.600 points. Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley), Robin Knauf (So.-Rothschild, Wis./D.C. Everest), and Karlee Shaw (Jr.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) all recorded personal bests in the floor exercise. Howard took home a sixth place finish with a mark of 9.275, while Knauf and Shaw finished in ninth and 10th place with scores of 9.025 and 8.850, respectively. Shaw also finished with a personal best score of 8.350 in the uneven bars. With a score of 9.500, Sarah Hulbert (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) recorded a personal best in the vault, good for a fourth place finish. Next up for the Blugolds is a match up against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) on February 27. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is the final home meet of the season at McPhee. - CL - |
