Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Tue, Feb 18, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Falters In 3-0 Loss To UW-Superior Posted: Saturday, February 14, 2009 SUPERIOR, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team suffered its second straight loss to NCHA opponent UW-Superior 3-0 today at the Wessman Arena. In the first period, Superior's Shana Katz scored at 3:29 during a Yellowjacket power-play to give them the lead. Superior struck again near the end of the period with a goal coming from Jessica Tyra. With the second period ending with no goals for either team, the third period added another goal to the Yellowjacket scoreboard with Jodi Holland scoring at 3:20 to make the final score 3-0. The Yellowjackets out-shot the Blugolds 26-19 while Morgan Pieper (Fr.-Williams, Minn./Warroad) defended the Blugold net for the entire game, picking up 26 saves on the day. The Blugolds have not been shutout in a game since the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association League Playoffs last year against Lake Forest with the game going into two overtimes, ending in a 1-0 loss for the Blugolds. Eau Claire now drops to 12-8-3 on the year while falling to 7-7-2 in the NCHA. UW-Superior, who is 5-1 in its past six games, moves to 14-7-2 on the year while improving to 10-4-2 in the NCHA. The Blugolds will end their regular season play next weekend with two home games against conference opponent UW-River Falls both nights. The Falcons and Blugolds will face off at Hobbs Ice Center at 7 p.m. on both nights. - MT -
