Fri, Dec 6, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Oshkosh Defeats Blugold Gymnasts Posted: Friday, February 13, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - For the second time this season, the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team fell to conference opponent UW-Oshkosh, in a dual meet tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center. Earlier this season in Oshkosh, the Blugolds had three first place finishes as they lost to the Titans and tonight Eau Claire came away with two first place finishes as they fell 178.525-173.275. On the vault, Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) recorded a season-high score of 9.400 to win the event. She was also the Blugolds' highest finisher on the floor exercise with a 9.150 for a third place finish. Combined with her sixth place finish on the uneven bars (8.775) and her seventh place finish on the balance beam (8.150), she took second in the all-around competition with a 35.475. Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) also took a first place spot for Eau Claire, tying Oshkosh's Stacie Jenkins for first on the uneven bars. Both gymnasts picked up scores of 9.025. The Blugolds did not have a good showing on the balance beam tonight as they finished with their lowest overall score of the season at 40.600. Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear) was the highest Blugold finisher in the event, coming away with an 8.500. Eau Claire will be back in action next Friday for dual meet against UW-Whitewater. Events are slated to begin at 7 p.m. in Whitewater. - KM - |
