Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Tue, Feb 18, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Loses 4-1 To UW-Superior Posted: Friday, February 13, 2009 SUPERIOR, Wis. - After a 4-1 win last Saturday against Lake Forest, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team lost 4-1 to NCHA opponent UW-Superior tonight at the Wessman Arena. With the loss, the Blugolds fall to 12-7-3 on the season and 7-6-2 in conference play and remain in fourth place. The Yellowjackets stay in third place and improve to 13-7-2 overall and 9-4-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. In the first period, Superior struck first at 9:18 on a power-play goal from Jamie McClintock to make it 1-0 in favor of the Yellowjackets. The second period continued to be a drought in scoring for the Blugolds as two more power-plays at 6:58 and 17:55 led to two Superior goals from Teagan Cassan and Kayla Chilstrom, respectively. At 6:09 into the third period, UW-Superior's Jodi Holland scored its fourth unanswered point of the night to make the score 4-0. Eau Claire would not end the night being shut out as Toni Simones (Fr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) received an assist from Kristin Faber So.-Austin, Minn.) at 14:09 to give the Blugolds their lone-goal of the night to make the final score 4-1. Eau Claire was out-shot by Superior tonight 35-21 after both teams had seven power-plays. Morgan Pieper (Fr.-Williams, Minn./Warroad) took the loss between the pipes for the Blugolds to move to 8-4-2 on the season while making 31 saves and playing the full 60 minutes. The Blugolds are back on the ice for game two of the doubleheader against the Yellowjackets tomorrow. The puck drops at 2 p.m. at Wessman Arena. - MT - |
