PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team had a season-high score tonight, but ended up falling 178.675-172.950 at Hamline University. Kerri Ritsche (So.-South Range, Wis./Superior) and Sarah Hulbert (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) both picked up second place finishes, the highest for the Blugolds on the evening. Ritsche took second in the all-around competition with a score of 34.000 while Hulbert had the Blugolds' best finish on the vault, taking second with a career-best 9.450. The Blugolds had three different members earn their best finishes in the other events. On the uneven bars Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) finished third with a score of 8.800. The Blugolds took the next four places in the event. On the balance beam, Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear) recorded an 8.850 to become the Blugolds' highest finisher in fourth place. Two other Blugolds finished right behind Lynch. In the floor exercise, Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) was the highest finisher for Eau Claire with a fifth place spot with a season-best 9.225. Eau Claire also took the next two places in the event. On Tuesday the Blugolds will be back in competition with a dual meet at Winona State University. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. - KM - |
