With the loss, the Blugolds fall to 11-6-3 on the season and 6-5-2 in conference play and remain in fourth place. The Foresters remain in fifth place and improve to 10-9-1 overall and 6-6-1 in the NCHA. One goal was scored in each period, with Lake Forest lighting the lamp first. At the 17:35 mark in the first period, Lynn Switaj gave the Foresters a 1-0 lead. Eau Claire evened the score at one at the 13:17 mark in the second period on a Toni Simones (Fr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) power play goal. It was Simones' fourth goal of the season and was assisted by Beth Dittrich (Jr.-Roseville, Minn.) and Lauren Havard (Sr.-San Angelo, Texas/Araphaoe). It was Dittrich's ninth assist and Havard's team-leading 12th. With a tie game heading into the final period, Lake Forest recorded the game-winning goal at the 13:27 mark in the third to seal the win. Eau Claire out-shot Lake Forest 30-14 in the tough-luck loss. Morgan Pieper (Fr.-Williams, Minn./Warroad) took the loss between the pipes for the Blugolds, making 14 saves and allowing the two Forester goals.
