Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Takes Third At Home Invite Posted: Friday, January 16, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took third place out of three teams at its annual UW-Eau Claire Invite at the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight. The UW-La Crosse Eagles took home first place honors for the third year in a row with a score of 180.725. UW-Stout finished in second with 176.350, while the Blugolds completed the meet with 171.725. The Blugolds' highest finish of the evening came in the all-around with Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) taking fourth with a 34.825. Kerri Ritsche (So.-South Range, Wis./Superior) finished sixth in the all-around with a 34.600. UW-Stout's Meghan Hargens took the top spot with a 37.125. The Blugolds also had a pair of fifth place finishes on the uneven bars with Ritsche and Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) tying for the spot with season-high scores of 8.775. Stout's Hargens took first with a 9.125. Eau Claire also had gymnasts take sixth on the vault and balance beam. Sutherland finished with a season-high 9.225 on the vault and Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear) completed the beam with a season-high 9.000. Stout's Naomi DeLara finished first on the beam with a 9.550 and La Crosse's Gabi Hooper took first in the vault with a 9.475. In the floor exercise, Eau Claire's top finisher was Ritsche, who completed the event in ninth place with an 8.725. The Eagles' Hooper won the floor with a 9.425. Next weekend the Blugolds will head to Oshkosh to take on the Titans. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday. - KM - |
