Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnasts At Home Friday Posted: Thursday, January 15, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team is set to host its annual UW-Eau Claire Invite tomorrow. Events are set to get underway at 6:30 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center. UW-La Crosse and UW-Stout will compete with the Blugolds at the invite. La Crosse has won the last two invites while the Blugolds have finished in third place the last two years. The Blugolds and Eagles opened their seasons last weekend with a triangular at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. La Crosse took second place and Eau Claire finished third as Air Force took first. Stout also began its season last weekend with a triangular against Oshkosh and Hamline University. The Blue Devils finished first at the meet, more than two points ahead of second-place finisher Oshkosh. Samantha Howard (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) and Anna Sutherland (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) were the highest finishers in the Blugolds' season-opener with eighth place finishes. Howard took eighth in the floor exercise, while Sutherland finished eighth in the all-around competition. The Blugolds' invite is one of three home events this season. On February 13 Eau Claire will be back at home for a meet against Oshkosh and will finish the regular season back in McPhee on February 27 against Gustavus Adolphus. - KM - |
