Men's Golf Moves Up To Sixth At Twin Cities Classic

RAMSEY, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team moved into sixth place out of 23 teams with 603 strokes after the second round of the 2008 Gustavus Adolphus Twin Cities Classic at The Links at Northfork.

Illinois Wesleyan took the lead today with 289 strokes, putting them at an overall total of 579 strokes. St. John's University (Minn.) is close behind with a total of 581 after shooting a 297 on the day. Central College (Iowa) remains in third place with 299 strokes on the day and 589 strokes total. The Blugolds came in third place with the stroke totals for today with 298 strokes, just one stroke behind St. John's University.

On the individual side, Illinois Wesleyan's Mike DeRuntz has taken the lead by one stroke, shooting a total score of 141. Mike shot a score of 71 yesterday and a score of 70 today.

Eau Claire is currently lead by Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East), who finished the second round with a total stroke count of 150 after shooting a score of 74 today. He is currently tied for 22nd place. K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) finished the day with 70 strokes, which was the lowest stroke count for the Blugolds today. He currently is tied for 28th place with an overall stroke count of 151. Loren Churness (So.-Durand, Wis.) and teammate Jake Brookshaw (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) both finished the day with an overall stroke count of 151. They are also tied for 28th place with Rucker. Adam Eggebrecht (Jr.-Abbotsford, Wis./Colby) finished the second day with an overall score of 161, putting him in 84th place.

The final round of competition will be played tomorrow at White Bear Yacht Club at 10 a.m.
