ORLANDO, Fl. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan this morning and is now 2-1 in its spring break trip.

Yesterday the Blugolds split on the first day of competition, winning the first and losing the second, in Orlando to start their spring season. The victory today brings the Blugolds record to 21-6 overall this year and 10-4 in dual meets.

Eau Claire won all its singles matches in straight sets and only gave up a maximum of two points per set. Sarah Riordan (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) was unable to pick up a win yesterday but bounced back today and only gave up two points, winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Gina Dahl (So.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) won at the No. 2 spot by the same score. Picking up her first win on the spring break trip was Kristie Carlson (Sr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) at No. 3 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-0. Erin Welch (So.-Tomah, Wis.) also won today 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Michelle Reinders (Fr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) and Kirsten Marciniak (Fr.-Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) both won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

Eau Claire also swept Illinois Wesleyan in doubles play, giving up only four points in all of the matches. The duo of Riordan and Dahl won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Carlson and Welch picked up a win with the same score at No. 2. The No. 3 team of Reinders and Marciniak didn't give up a point, winning 8-0.

The Blugolds will finish up competition in Orlando with two more meets tomorrow. They will face Trinity (Conn.) at 9 a.m. and William and Smith College at noon Tuesday.
