Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnastics Falls To Whitewater In Final Home Meet Posted: Friday, February 22, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - While the UW-Eau Claire gymnasts competed strong against UW-Whitewater in three events, the vault proved to be the downfall for the Blugolds as they came up short 176.075-173.525 tonight in their final meet in the McPhee Physical Education Center. On the bars, beam, and floor, the Blugolds lost by no more than seven-tenths of a point, but lost 45.450-43.975 on the vault on their way to the loss. The scores in each event were 42.600-42.300 (bars), 43.650-43.500 (beam) and 44.375-43.750 (floor). Anna Sutherland (Jr.-Arden Hills, MN/Roseville) was the highest finisher for the Blugolds tonight, taking second place on the floor exercise and in the all-around. She scored a season-high 9.100 on the floor exercise, and took sixth on the balance beam with a score of 8.650, fifth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.575 and 10th in the vault with a score of 8.500 to finish with a score of 34.825 in the all-around. The highest finishers of the night for the Blugolds on the vault were Samantha Howard (So.-St. Paul, MN/Henry Sibley) and Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, Minn.). They both tied for fifth with a score of 8.950. Whitewater's Danielle Crinzi finished in the top spot with a 9.250. Howard also took third place on the uneven bars, finishing one place ahead of teammate Lauren Strecker (Fr.-Little Canada, Minn./Roseville). Howard scored an 8.625 in the event while Strecker took fourth with a score of 8.600. Ashley George and Crinzi tied for first place in the event with a score of 8.950. Brittany Adams (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) also performed well on the balance beam for the Blugolds, taking second place with a career-high score of 9.050. Whitewater's Ginelle Galub won on the beam tonight, scoring a 9.150. The Blugolds will next be in action when they travel to La Crosse for a triangular meet that will feature the Blugolds, the Eagles and Gustavus Adolphus.
