Sun, Dec 8, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date 2008 Gymnastics Roster Announced Posted: Thursday, January 10, 2008 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics roster is set for the 2008 season, head coach Jean DeLisle announced today. This year's roster features 11 returning letterwinners. Leading the way for the Blugolds are three-time letterwinners Brittany Adams (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn.), Angie Cich (Sr.-Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong), Theresa Lynch (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear) and Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, Minn.). Both Olson and Lynch received last year's most valuable performer award. They will also lead the team as captains this season. Lynch is a three-time National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-American, receiving second team honors on the balance beam last season, first team honors in the floor exercise in 2006 and first team honors in the all-around in 2005. Lynch is also one of only three individual national champions the Blugolds have ever had, winning the floor exercise in 2006. Olson competed in the NCGA Nationals last season as an all-around competitor and finished in 17th place. Other returning letterwinners for the Blugolds are two-time letterwinners Leah Gilseth (Jr.-Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) and Anna Sutherland (Jr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville), and one-time letterwinners Jamie Farley (Jr.-Maplewood, Minn./North), Katie Kooiker (So.-Grantsburg, Wis.), Alicia Schaub (So.-Lakeland, Minn./Stillwater), Karlee Shaw (So.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) and Staci Solin (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi). Tracey Kostuch (So.-Mahtomedi, Minn./Concordia Academy) was also on the team last season. There will be five new gymnasts on this year's team. They are Samantha Howard (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley), Kallie Knower (Fr.-Holmen, Wis.), Becca Lukanich (Fr.-Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), Kerri Ritsche (Fr.-South Range, Wis./Superior) and Lauren Strecker (Fr.-Little Canada, Minn./Roseville). Head coach Jean DeLisle enters her fifth season at the helm for the Blugolds. Erin Bolstad also enters her fifth season as an assistant, while Julian Burgess enters his first season as an assistant. Kelly Anderson will also be a student assistant for the second year in a row. - KM - |
