Wed, Dec 4, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnasts Prepare For Nationals Posted: Friday, March 16, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team members Theresa Lynch (Jr. -Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake), Anna Sutherland (So. -Arden Hills, MN/Roseville), Kristi Olson (Jr. -Minnetonka, MN), and Ashley Brett (Sr. -Forest Lake, MN) look for success at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Nationals March 23-24, hosted by UW-Whitewater. Last year Lynch, Sutherland, and Olson competed at nationals, with the team claiming seventh. Lynch became the third Blugold individual national champion as she won the floor exercise with a 19.425 score. Sutherland took 12th in the floor exercise while Olson participated in the team events. Sutherland's score was 18.975. Lynch will be competing in the bars and the beam at nationals. She had a 9.450 score in the beam for third at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/NCGA Regional. It was her season-high. Her 9.125 effort in the bars took ninth. Her season-high is 9.200. Sutherland had a season-best 9.500 mark on the vault at regionals, which is the event she will be competing in at nationals. It tied for sixth. Olson will be an all-around competitor at the big event, having gained 35.500 at regionals for 12th. Her top score this season was 36.375. Brett will be participating in floor exercises at nationals. She had a 9.375 score at regionals for 11th. Her top mark is 9.400. The event is at Whitewater with the action starting at 6 p.m. each day. - PH - |
