Several Earn All-NCHA Women's Hockey Post-Season Awards

MENOMONIE - Several members of the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team have been named to the All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and All-NCHA Academic Teams, it was announced today by conference sports information director Layne Pitt.

Forward Laura Suppes (Sr.-Roseville, MN) earned first team honors after being named honorable mention in 2004 and 2005. Suppes led the Blugolds with 22 points, 10 goals and 12 assists this past season. Suppes also led the team with five power play goals.

Joining Suppes as a first team selection is defenseman Allie Campbell (Sr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata). Campbell scored 13 points with 12 assists and one goal, which came off a power play. Campbell was an honorable mention selection in 2004 and 2005.

Forwards Karen Hebert (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels) and Martina Korinek (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) both received honorable mention All-NCHA accolades. Hebert scored 15 points off nine goals and six assist in 2006-07. Hebert led the team with a season-best two short-handed goals. Hebert also netted three game-winning goals this season.

Korinek earned honorable mention recognition for the second-straight year. Korinek was second on the team with 19 points, 10 assists and nine goals. Korinek scored two power play goals, one short-handed and one unassisted goal this season.

Receiving honorable mention defensive honors were Tara Hayner (Sr.-Stillwater, MN) and Michelle Stohr (Fr.-South St. Paul, MN). Hayner scored seven points off four goals and three assists. Half of Hayner's four goals came on the power play.

Stohr scored 15 points off eight goals and seven assists in her first season of collegiate hockey. Stohr tied Suppes with a team-best five power play goals in addition to tallying two game-winning goals.

Campbell, Korinek, Amber Stevenson (Sr.-Eagan, MN) and Suppes have all been named to the 20-person All-NCHA Academic Team. Stevenson is a three-time member of the All-Academic team while Campbell, Korinek and Suppes have received NCHA Academic recognition each of the last two years. Stevenson was one of four players named to the All-NCHA Academic Team for the third time.
