Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Mon, Mar 17, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Valiquette To Compete At NCAA Wrestling Championships Posted: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire wrestler Lance Valiquette (Sr. -Auburn, WA) will be one of 19 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) wrestlers to compete at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on March 2-3 hosted by Loras College at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Valiquette will enter the national championships with an overall record of 30-11, the most wins by any Blugold this season. Valiquette is third on the team with six pins with three of those pins coming in less than one minute and thirty seconds. In three seasons as a Blugold Valiquette owns a career record of 69-42 with 12 wins coming by pin. Valiquette earned one of the nine at-large bids available to the WIAC this season. At-large bids are selected on by the WIAC head wrestling coaches at the conclusion of the WIAC Championships on February 18. The 10 individual conference champions earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championships. Valiquette advanced to the championship match at 165 pounds where he lost to top-seed Tim Palmer of UW-La Crosse. Palmer is currently ranked second nationally at 165 pounds. The 2007 Championships will mark the fourth consecutive year that the Blugolds have advanced a wrestler to nationals at 165 pounds. Derek Sikora, now serving as a graduate assistant for the Blugolds, advanced the previous three seasons.
