EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team concluded its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association campaign with a 4-2 triumph over Finlandia at the Hobbs Ice Center Saturday night.

While the Blugolds swept the weekend series from Finlandia, it was not enough to get them into the league playoffs as Lake Forest defeated UW-Stevens Point, 3-1, to secure the No. 4 spot. Only the top four teams in the six-team league advance to the post-season tournament.

The Blugolds trailed Finlandia, 2-1, at 11:20 of the second period before scoring the final three goals of the contest to win a game they dominated, outshooting the Lions, 45-17.

Sophomore Margaret Campbell (Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) opened and closed the scoring for the Blugolds. She got the Blugolds on the board with a power play goal at 3:27 of the opening period. She scored again on a power play at 3:16 of the third to give the Blugolds some breathing room.

In between Campbell's goals, sophomore Lauren Havard (San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) and senior Karen Hebert (Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels) added goals in the final five minutes of the second period to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead.

Freshman Mikaela Jobman (St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham) made 15 saves between the pipes to pick up the goaltending victory.

The Blugolds were two for five on the power play while Finlandia scored once with four player-advantage situations.

The Blugolds finished NCHA play with a 6-7-2 mark and stand 12-10-2 on the season heading into their season finale next Wednesday night against Hamline in a non-conference clash. Finlandia remained winless in NCHA competition at 0-12-1 and stands 4-17-2 overall.
