The victory pulls the Blugolds back to .500 at 7-7-1. Since returning from Christmas Break the Blugolds have won four-of-five games with each win coming against a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) school. The win was the fourth straight for the Blugolds over the Wildcats outscoring St. Catherine 30-4 during the win streak. The Blugolds struck first at 16:24 of the first period when Laura Suppes (Sr.-Roseville, MN) netted the game's first goal assisted by Margaret Campbell (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and Karen Hebert (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels). Suppes struck again as she scored her second straight goal assisted by Campbell and Hebert again at 11:34 of the second period to extend the lead to 2-0. Hebert went on to score again, this time scoring the goal of her own at 16:44 of the second period assisted by Campbell to push the lead to 3-0. Hebert tallied her second goal at 6:31 of the third period assisted by Campbell and Suppes giving the Blugolds a 4-0 lead. After assisting each previous Blugold goal Campbell went on to score the final goal of the game for the Blugolds short-handed assisted by Martina Korinek (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) to make the score 5-0. Mikaela Jobman (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin Derham Hall) saved all seven shots faced in two periods between the pipes. Heather Prochaska (Jr.-Madison/East) entered the game to be goalie for the third period. The Blugolds outshot the Wildcats 43-11. The Wildcats went 0-for-6 on the power play while the Blugolds went 0-for-3. Suppes and Hebert each scored two goals while Campbell scored one goal and had four assists. Hebert recorded two assists as Suppes and Korinek each tallied one apiece. Up next the Blugolds return to conference play when they host UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, January 20.
