Thu, Dec 5, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Blugolds To Host Gymnastics Invite Posted: Thursday, January 11, 2007 The annual UW-Eau Claire gymnastics invitational will take place Friday night in the McPhee Phy Ed Center. Joining the Blugolds in the meet will be defending NCGA national champion UW-La Crosse plus Gustavus Adolphus and Hamline University. Warm-ups begin at 4:25 p.m. and competition at 6 p.m. with four rotations in the four events: vault, bars, beam and floor. Fourth-year Blugold coach Jean DeLisle has indicated that the invitational will have a "Harley" theme. This will be the second meet of the season for the Blugolds who are an extremely young team after losing five seniors from last year's squad which finished second in the conference meet for a fourth consecutive year and qualified for the NCGA nationals for a fourth time in a row. DeLisle also indicated that injuries have sidelined a number of Blugolds and also limited the routines for a number of others who are coming back from injuries. La Crosse will undoubtedly be the class of the meet. The Eagles have won 10 consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and six straight National Collegiate Gymnastics Association titles. - TP - |
