Andy Miller (So.-Appleton/North) advances to the quarterfinals of the 133 pound bracket after pinning Matt Korinek of Buena Vista (IA) at 1:48. Miller will face second-seeded Nick Cucciniello in his first match of the day. Cucciniello won his first match of the day 7-3 Pat Senzig (So.-Lyndon Station/Mauston) won his first two matches at 149 pounds to remain in the winner's bracket. Senzig defeated Alex Riniker of Cornell (IA) 6-5 and than went on to upset second-seeded Dana Vote of Buena Vista 7-4. Senzig will face unseeded Charlie Curran of Coe (IA) in his first match tomorrow. Josh Kasuboski (So.-Wautoma) and Nick Hoeft (Jr.-Merrill) both advanced to the third round at 184 pounds. Kasuboski defeated Austin Hayes of Buena Vista 4-1 while Hoeft outscored Pat Detmer of UW-Oshkosh 7-4. Kasuboski will next face unseeded Mike Christiansen of Coe while Hoeft takes on third-seeded Greg Lalla of Coe. Josh Holforty (So.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) began the day seeded fifth at 197 pounds and won his opening match over Nick Shandri of Wartburg (IA) 5-1. He will start tomorrow facing fourth-seeded Rob Kramer of Coe. Justin McAuly (Sr.-Clintonville) won his only match of the day at 285 pounds defeating JakeMadrinich of Luther (IA) 2-1. Tomorrow McAuly will open against second-seeded Brian Borchers of Wartburg. Finals for the Matman Invitational will conclude tomorrow. Action will begin at 9:00 A.M. - KM - |
