Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Tue, Feb 11, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Starts Season With Back-To-Back Losses Posted: Saturday, November 4, 2006 MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team could not climb back against a 4-0 deficit tonight versus eighth-ranked University of St. Thomas and wound up losing 4-2. The loss drops Eau Claire to 0-2-0 on the season after losing 5-2 to Bethel University in the season opener Friday night. The Tommies are 1-1-0 after a 2-1 loss to sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point in their respective opener on Friday. St. Thomas built a 2-0 lead before the first intermission with evenhanded goals coming at 5:45 and 9:45 from Kara Ledel. The period ended with 12 Tommie shots and 10 for the Blugolds. The Tommies quickly doubled the score in the second before the Blugolds got on the board. Courtney Sekevitch and Jill Kobow fired even-sided goals at 1:57 and 3:21, respectively. The Blugolds cashed in a power-play not a moment too soon at 19:59. Martina Korinek (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) found net while Karen Hebert (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels) provided the assist. The Blugolds cut the lead in half right away in the third when Margaret Campbell (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) shot in an evenhanded score at 1:49 but the team could not add any more goals after that. Beth Dittrich (Fr.-Roseville, MN) and Michelle Stohr (Fr.-South St. Paul, MN) supplied assists on the Campbell score. Mikaela Jobman (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin Derham Hall) took the loss and only sat out the last minute when Eau Claire sent the extra offensive player. She made 20 saves on 24 shots. Eau Claire matched the Tommies shot for shot with St. Thomas' Katie Jetland stopping 22. St. Thomas was whistled for 10 penalties and went 0-for-6 in advantages. Eau Claire had seven penalties and converted one of nine in power-plays. The Blugolds will next skate at Winona, MN on Tuesday when they face St. Mary's University. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Next Saturday will be the first home game, which has a 2:00 p.m. start time listed. Eau Claire-St. Thomas Box Score- PH - |
