2008-09 Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week
February 16, 2009-February 22, 2009
Christine Dickinson, Forward, 5-4, Sophomore, Layton, Utah/Shattuck-St. Mary's
Dickinson picked up her 12th assist of the season in the Blugolds' lone goal this weekend. The Blugolds came up short twice to eighth-ranked UW-River Falls, falling 5-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday. Dickinson's assist tied Saturday's game up in the first period before the Falcons scored two unanswered goals.
Kelli Johnson, Defenseman, 5-3, Sophomore, Farmington, Minn.
While the Blugolds fell short twice this weekend, Johnson played well on the defensive end and helped the Blugolds outshoot the UW-River Falls Falcons. River Falls put up a total of 50 shots on the weekend while the Blugolds finished with 55.
February 2, 2009-February 8, 2009
Lynn Erspamer, Forward, 5-6, Freshman, Marquette, Mich.
In a weekend where the Blugolds split against Lake Forest College at home, Erspamer helped the Blugolds to their victory on Saturday. Eau Claire defeated the Foresters 4-1 on Saturday after dropping a 2-1 contest on Friday. In Saturday's game Erspamer opened up scoring for the Blugolds on a power-play and the Blugolds never looked back.

Lauren Havard, Forward, 5-3, Senior, San Angelo, Texas/Araphaoe
As the Blugolds fell short 3-1 on Friday against eighth-ranked UW-Stevens Point, Havard played a consistent game for the Blugolds. She finished the game with three of the Blugolds' 19 shots.
January 19, 2009-January 25, 2009
Beth Dittrich, Forward, 5-7, Junior, Roseville, Minn.
Dittrich scored two goals for the Blugolds this weekend as they came away with a win and a loss at Finlandia University. In Friday's 5-3 loss, Dittrich scored the game's opening goal, while she also picked up the first goal of the contest on Saturday. Both were even-strength goals.

Kristin Faber, Forward, 5-8, Sophomore, Austin, Minn.
Faber helped the Blugolds secure three points in the conference race this weekend with a win and a tied in two overtime contests against seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point at home. On Friday the Blugolds beat Stevens Point 4-3, scoring with only 18 seconds to go in the overtime period. Saturday's game ended in a 2-2 tie and Faber picked up both of Eau Claire's goals. She put Eau Claire on the board first with a power-play goal coming in the first six minutes of the game and also scored the game-tying goal only 23 seconds in the third period on a power-play. For the season she leads the Blugolds with 10 goals and 11 assists.

Morgan Pieper, Goalie, 5-2, Freshman, Williams, Minn./Warroad
Pieper had a big game Friday as the Blugolds defeated 10th-ranked UW-Superior 2-1, handing the Yellowjackets their first conference loss of the season. She recorded 38 saves while allowing one goal. The Blugolds also had a scare with one second to go in the game when Superior put a shot up in the corner of the net but Pieper pulled it out of the air to keep the Blugolds on top.

Danika Porter, Goalie, 5-6, Sophomore, Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul
With one game this weekend, the Blugolds picked up a 4-1 win over Hamline University to kick off 2009. In the game, Porter came up with 14 saves as the Blugolds outshot the Pipers 29-15. Porter now holds a 2.31 goals against average and a .896 save percentage on the season.

Toni Simones, Forward, 5-5, Freshman, Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul
The Blugolds came up short at River Falls this weekend 5-3, but Simones played well the entire game. On the offensive end she had a great game for Eau Claire and put up a number of shots. For the season Simones is tied for fourth on the team with eight points, coming from three goals and five assists.

Maddi Hammer, Defenseman, 5-8, Sophomore, Owatonna, Minn.
Hammer recorded three goals this weekend as the Blugolds split decisions on the road. Friday the Blugolds came up with a 6-2 win over Concordia (Wis.) and Saturday the Blugolds fell 4-3 in overtime at Lake Forest College (Ill.). In Friday's game, Hammer scored a goal in the second period to give the Blugolds a 4-2 lead. Saturday she picked up two more goals, scoring the Blugolds' first goal of the contest and also came up big for Eau Claire to push the game into overtime with a goal in the third period.

Jackie McKay, 5-6, Freshman, Defenseman, Franklin Park, Ill./East Leyden
As the Blugolds went 1-1 this weekend against Adrian College (Mich.), a team that received votes in last week's USCHO.com top 10 poll, McKay helped the team with a great performance on defense. On Friday the Blugolds won 1-0 and on Saturday the teams played to a 2-2 overtime tie with the Blugolds outshooting the Bulldogs 30-26.

Kristin Faber, Forward, 5-8, Sophomore, Austin, Minn.
The Blugolds improved to 4-1-1 on the season, opening conference play with a win and a tie in two overtime games this weekend against Concordia-Wis. In Friday's game, Faber picked up the game-winning goal with only 12 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Blugolds the 3-2 victory. She also assisted on the goal that tied the game up at 2-2 to push the game into overtime and scored the Blugolds opening goal of the night when they were down 2-0. On Saturday she put up a game-high 10 shots as the Blugolds tied the Falcons 3-3.

Havard recorded two goals and one assist this weekend as the Blugolds went 1-1 with a 5-4 overtime loss to St. Mary's University on Friday and a 3-2 overtime victory over Bethel University on Saturday. In Friday's game Havard scored an even-strength goal in the second period to give the Blugolds their first lead of the game at 2-1. Saturday Havard assisted on a short-handed goal in the second to give the Blugolds a 2-1 advantage but Bethel sent the game in to overtime with a goal coming with less than five minutes remaining to play. Havard then scored the game-winner in overtime to improve the Blugolds' overall record to 3-1.

Dittrich helped the Blugolds win two straight games to open the season, defeating Bethel University on Friday and St. Mary's University on Saturday, both with scores of 3-1. Dittrich picked up the game-winning goals in both contests. On Friday she scored her first goal of the season in the second period, while on Saturday she also scored the game-winner in the second period. She also assisted on the final goal of the game Saturday.
