2011 Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
April 25, 2011-May 1, 2011
Track: Thomas Breitbach, Junior, Muskego, Wis.
Breitbach won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:49.69, a school record, at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. on Friday. His time broke the Blugolds' old school record by more than 29 seconds. The old record of 30:18.16 was set by Dan Held on May 6, 1988. Breitbach's time was also the second best in the nation to date this season.
Field: Tyler Genovese, Junior, Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH
Genovese had three strong performances this weekend at the Saint Mary's Open. He won the discus throw with a toss of 47.93 meters (157-03), nine feet better than the rest of the field. Genovese was also third in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.81 meters (179-10) and was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 14.09 meters (46-02.75).

Track: Jacob Dennis-Oehling, Freshman, Whitewater, Wis.
Dennis Oehling won one event and was second in another as the Blugolds took second place at the Winona State University Easter Invitational on Friday. In the 400-meter dash, he finished with a time of 49.01 seconds to take first while he was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.46.
Field: Tony Sigrist, Junior, Byron, Minn.
Sigrist competed well this weekend at the Winona State University Easter Invitational, where the Blugolds finished in second place. He reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.42 meters (178-06) as he took sixth while he was fourth in the shot put and 11th in the discus throw.

Field: Tyler Genovese, Junior, Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH
Genovese had two top-four finishes this weekend at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge. In the discus throw, he finished with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 50.26 meters (164-11) as he took second place. In the hammer throw, he was fourth with a distance of 51.41 meters (168-08).

Track: Matt Scott, Freshman, Kiel, Wis.
This weekend at the Wartburg Select, where the Blugolds finished in sixth place, Scott had two finishes of seventh place or better. His best finish came in the 800-meter run as he took sixth with a time of 1:57.88 while taking seventh in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.48.

Genovese finished seventh or better in three events this weekend at the Wartburg Select, where the Blugolds finished in sixth place overall. His best finish came in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.25 meters (168-02) as he took fourth. Genovese also finished sixth in the discus throw and seventh in the shot put.
