(UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire wrestling head coach Russ Peloquin has announced the team award winners for the 2010-11 season. Joe Pitsch (Jr.-Oshkosh, Wis./North), who wrestled at heavyweight, was named MVP. He finished the season with an overall record of 14-16, winning six times by pinning his opponent. At the WIAC Championship, he took fourth place. Matthew Rieckhoff (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) earned rookie of the year honors. He took fifth place at the WIAC Championship, wrestling at 184 pounds, and finished the season with a mark of 6-18. Three of his victories came by fall. The hardest worker award went to Craig Eckelberg (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.). He wrestling 16 times this season and had a major decision victory of 15-4 early in the season. Eckelberg primarily wrestled at 165 pounds this season but also competed at 174 a couple times. |
