(UWECBlugolds.com) - While leading the field of 10 teams after day one, the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team fell one spot to take second at the Carleton College Spring Invitational today. The Blugolds finished with 669 strokes, three behind winner Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). St. Olaf College (Minn.) was third with 681 strokes. Eau Claire finished with four golfers tying for ninth or better. Katie Maurer (Jr.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) and Sara Mattes (Jr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) led the Blugolds, tying for fourth with 166 strokes. Catherine Wagner (So.-Austin, Minn.) finished tied for sixth with 168 and Emily Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.) tied for ninth with 169. Taking top honors in the 54-golfer field was Kathryn Hauff from the College of Saint Benedict with 158 strokes. Next weekend the Blugolds will host their spring invitational. Competition will take place Saturday and Sunday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. |
