(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's track & field team finished in second place out of 10 teams at the Winona State University Easter Invitational today. The Blugolds finished with 113.5 points for second place while UW-La Crosse won with 197 and Augustana finished in third with 104. One Blugold won an event while there were 10 other finishes of fourth or better. Taking the top spot in the 400-meter dash was Jacob Dennis-Oehling (Fr.-Whitewater, Wis.) with a time of 49.01 seconds. He was also second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.46. Also with a second place finish was Arabin Lightfoot (Sr.-Mosinee, Wis.) with a time of 15.52 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. In the field, the Blugolds had three finishers in third place. Tyler Genovese (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) hit a provisional qualifying mark in the discus throw with a toss of 48.14 meters (157-11) as he took third. Kirk Schmidt (Sr.-Athens, Wis.) was also third in the triple jump while Joe Lilek (Jr.-Tomahawk, Wis.) was third in the shot put. Next weekend the Blugolds will be in a number of different locations for competitions prior to the WIAC Championship. |
