(UWECBlugolds.com) - Picking up two more victories today at the Olson Indoor Courts in the McPhee Physical Education Center, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team has now won 11 in a row. The Blugolds opened the day with a 9-0 victory over Simpson College (Iowa) and followed with an 8-1 win over Concordia University (Wis.) later in the day. The only match the Blugolds dropped the entire day was at No. 4 singles against Concordia. However, the match was closely contested as Brayden Parman (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. He won 6-1, 6-4 earlier in the day against Simpson. In singles play, Ryan Vande Linde (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), Joe Meier (Fr.-Hutchinson, Minn.), Chris Thornton (Sr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall), David Stingley (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and Bryan Yanagita (Fr.-Minneapolis, Minn./South) all won both matches they played today. Yanagita lost just one game as he won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 against Simpson and 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot against Concordia. On the doubles side, Thornton and Vande Linde won twice in the No. 1 spot while Yanagita and Stingley also won twice at No. 2. At No. 3, Parman and Meier picked up two wins and only fell once against Simpson as the pair won 8-1. Eau Claire is now 11-1 on the season. Next weekend, the Blugolds will be on the road for three more duals. Eau Claire will kick off the weekend against the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Friday at 6 p.m. in Waterloo. |
