STEVENS POINT, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The No. 22-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team had another solid day of competition, with multiple competitors making top-five efforts at the Eastbay Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point.

Jeremy Kieser (So.-Verona, Wis.) made one of the strongest Blugold performances of the day, running a 15:19.45 in the 5,000-meter run. His time was the second best for the field. Matt Scott (Fr.-Kiel, Wis.) also had a good day in a distance event, running the fifth-fastest time in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:57.03. 

Arabin Lightfoot (Sr.-Mosinee, Wis.) was the only other individual in track events to have a top-five effort. Lightfoot was fifth-best in the 55-meter hurdle field, finishing the race in 8.03.

In the team events, the Eau Claire “A” team put down the third-best time in the distance medley with a run of 10:02.06. The Blugold team also had a top-five effort in the 4x400 relay with a fourth-quickest time of 3:22.19.

Mike Kosiak (So.-Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and Tony Sigrist (Jr.-Byron, Minn.) had two of the strongest efforts in field events. Kosiak tied for the fourth-best effort in the pole vault event with an attempt of 4.30 meters (14-01. 25). In the weight throw, Sigrist also had the fourth-best throw with a toss of 17.80 meters (58-04.75).

Next weekend, the teams will compete in the WIAC championships. Hosted by UW-Stout, events will begin at 1 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.
