(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track & field team had a productive outing at the UW-Platteville Invitational, particularly showing its strength in the distance and jump events today at Williams Fieldhouse. Julia Baranek (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) had a stellar day for the Blugolds, recording the best jump in the high jump competition with an effort of 1.67 meters (5-05.75). Baranek also had the second best effort in the triple jump with a result of 10.86 meters (35-07.75), just edging out teammate Liz Amici (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) who tied for third with a result of 10.81 meters (35-05.75). The Blugolds recorded top-three times in five different track events. Madi Sawyer (So.-Champlin, Minn./Park) led the field in the 3,000-meter run with a quick time of 10:47.29. In the 5,000-meter run, Ashlyn Mauer (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) laid down a second-best time of 18:17.89. Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) also made a third-best run in the one-mile run with her time of 5:14.87. Kim Miresse (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) just missed the top time in the 55-meter hurdle event, completing the distance in just 8:50. The top time of the event was just one hundredth of a second faster at 8.49. The Blugold A team also recorded the fastest time in the 4x200 relay with a result of 1:45.36. The Blugolds will travel to Stevens Point next Saturday for the East Bay Invite. Competition is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. |
