(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's track & field team often paced the field, recording several of the top efforts today at the Warren Bowlus Open in Menomonie. Patrick Mackin (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy) found success in the track events, leading the field with a 1:23.73 in the 600-meter run. The Blugolds packed the field in the 55-meter hurdles competition, with three Blugolds accounting for the eight participants in the finals. Patrick Keyes (Sr.-Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) put down the fastest time of the Blugolds and second overall with a 7.81. The Blugolds also represented a large portion of the field in the 55-meter dash, with another three Eau Claire runners qualifying for the seven-person finals. Jacob Dennis-Oehling (Fr.-Whitewater, Wis.) paced the Blugolds with a fourth-best time of 6.69. Eric Pronschinske (So.-Arcadia, Wis.) and Kirk Schmidt (Sr.-Athens, Wis.) were also top Blugold performers, laying down the respective third and fourth best times in the 1,000-meter run and the 200-meter dash. The Eau Claire A team also recorded the fifth best time with an effort of 3:37.89 in the 4x400-meter relay. In the field competitions, the Eau Claire dominated the shot put. Blugolds recorded the top four throws, led by Tony Sigrist (Jr.-Byron, Minn.) with an effort of 15.03 meter (49-03.75). Tyler Genovese (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Joe Lilek (Jr.-Tomahawk, Wis.) and Derek Waterstreet (So.-Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) followed with respective throws of 14.43 (47-04.25), 13.87 (45-06.25) and 13.78 meters (45-02.50). Also in the field events, Mike Kosiak (So.-Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) picked up the fifth best attempt in the pole vaulting event with an effort of 4.3 meters (14-01.25). Next up, the Blugolds will travel to Stevens Point for the UW-Stevens Point Multi on Friday and the Pointer Open on Saturday. Friday’s event is set to begin at 1 p.m. |
