Fri, Jan 17, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Ranked DII Team Takes Down Blugold Wrestling By: Ashley Hofer, Sports Information Student EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Though it won three of its last four competitions, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was halted tonight by second-ranked St. Cloud State University, 37-6. The 184 weight class produced the lone Eau Claire victory against the Division II Huskies. Facing one of three ranked St. Cloud wrestlers, Will Christ (Jr.-Shell Lake, Wis.) pinned No. 5 Mic Berg in 4:19 to keep the Blugolds from the shutout. Of the rest of the Blugolds, Ricky Gonzales and Joe Pitsch came closest to victory, losing by decisions in the 165 and 285 weight divisions, respectively. The Blugold season record drops to 3-8 overall. St. Cloud improves to 12-1 on the year. Next Friday, the Blugold team will travel Whitewater to face the Warhawks. The meet is scheduled for 7 p.m. |
