(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field team competed at the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Invitational today. The team ended with four individual first place finishes and six second place finishes on the day. Paul Hetke (Fr.-Chetek, Wis.) placed first in the one mile run with a time of 4:20.14. Brent Kann (Sr.-Rice Lake, Wis.) took second with a time of 4:20.94. Tom Breitbach (So.-Muskego, Wis.) took first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:12.74. Kevin Hall (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) placed second with a time of 15:13.26. Blake Weimerskirch (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong ) and Mike Kosiak (Fr.-Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) placed first and second in the pole vault with heights of 4.15 meters (13-7.25). Kirk Schmidt (Jr.-Athens, Wis.) won the long jump with a leap of 6.94 meters (22-9.25), while Grant Haugan (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) took second with a jump of 6.76 meters (22-2.25). Tony Sigrist (So.-Byron, Minn.) took second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.28 meters (56-8). Andrew Storsveen (Jr.-Winona, Minn.) placed second in the high jump event of the pentathlon with a leap of 1.86 meters (6-1.25). He took fifth place overall in the pentathlon. The team next competes at UW-Platteville on Saturday, February 13. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. |
