The hometown Pointers finished first with 165.5 points. UW-Platteville took runner-up on 102.5 before Eau Claire's 88. Fourth went to UW-Oshkosh's 71.5. Carroll College rounded out the top five on 57.5 points. Many Blugolds took top five spots today en route to the fantastic placement. In the field events, Nick Desotelle (Jr.-Weston/Schofield D.C. Everest) went 4.61 meters (15?1 ?") on pole vault for second. Joe Felber (Jr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) also took second in the long jump with a leap of 6.40 meters (21?). Sam Johnson (Jr.-Deer Park/Amery) was runner-up in the weight throw after a 17.55 meter (57? 7") showing. The duo of Tim Lauer (So.-Whitewater) and Johnson took fourth and fifth in the shot put with distances of 13.73 meters (45?1/2") and 13.70 meters (44? 11 ?"). Logan Koerten (Fr.-Plover/SPASH) had a 12.77 meter (41? 10 ?") performance in the triple jump for fifth. On the track, Chris Wirtz (So.-Weston/Schofield D.C. Everest) finished third in the 1-mile race on a 4:18.73 time. The 800-meter run saw Blugolds grab the fourth through sixth spots. Adam Flyte (So.-Fort Atkinson) had a 1:58.43 time while Andy Sol (So.-Menomonie) came through in 1:58.54 and Rob Wilcox (Jr.-Green Bay/Southwest) finished in 1:59.03. In the 55-meter dash, Zach Lee (Fr.-Ladysmith) ran a 6.53 race for fourth. Patrick Keyes (Fr.-Ham Lake, MN/Blaine) and his 8.14 time in the 55-meter hurdles was good for fifth. Andy Warren (Jr.-Kenosha/Bradford) ran a fifth place, 15:40.26 5,000-yard race. The relay squad had a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter race on a 3:19.04 mark. The successful meet sets the Blugolds up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championship on Friday and Saturday. It takes place in Superior and the first day begins at noon while Saturday's action starts at 9:30 a.m. Results- PH - |
