Lake Forest could not slow down Campbell today as she recorded three points for the Blugolds. Campbell tallied a point in each period as she scored in the first and second and set up teammate Lauren Havard (Jr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) on the power play in the third. The victory improves the Blugolds' overall record to 11-10-0 and 8-6-0 in conference play. With the victory the Blugolds are in sole possession of third place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). The Blugolds wasted no time getting on the board as Kristin Faber (Fr.-Austin, MN) scored at the 3:23 mark of the first period. From there Campbell took over as she scored her first goal of the night with just over four minutes remaining in the first. The Blugolds took a 2-0 lead into the locker room with them. Campbell struck again early in the second when she beat Alyssa Wintermute a minute into the period. The Blugolds continued their scoring assault when Shannon Nelson (Fr.-Blaine, MN) put the Blugolds up 4-0 just over five minutes later. Nelson's goal was the Blugolds first of two power play goals on the afternoon. Lake Forest got on the board at the 11:46 mark to cut the score to 4-1. The Score remained 4-1 as the teams took the ice in the third. Lake Forest changed goalies at the intermission, but this did not slow down the Blugolds as they drew first blood again in the third when Havard scored on the power at the 11:18 mark. Lake Forest would beat Lindsay Savat (Fr.-Apple Valley, MN/Thomas Jefferson) once more, but it would not be enough as the Blugolds coasted to a 5-2 victory. Savat played great between the pipes for the Blugolds. She made 37 total saves and recorded her fifth victory of the season. The Blugolds will return to action next weekend when second place UW-Superior will travel to Hobbs Ice Center. The action is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
