Please include a source of proof (newspaper, yearbook, etc.) to support your claim. ![]() Tue, Feb 18, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey's Unbeaten Streak Snapped By NCHA Leaders Posted: Saturday, February 3, 2007 RIVER FALLS - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team lost 4-1 to conference-leading UW-River Falls today at Hunt Arena, ending a seven-game unbeaten streak that stretched back to January 7th. The team falls to 4-5-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and 10-8-2 overall. The team is ranked third in the NCHA with 10 points. River Falls moves to 7-2-2 in conference play and 11-5-4 in all games. The Falcons have 16 points to lead the NCHA. This is the last time the Blugolds and Falcons face off. The teams split the previous two games this year with each team losing at home. The all-time record is now 4-20-3 in favor of River Falls. Through the first two periods the Blugolds had 15 shots on goal, including 11 in the second, while River Falls had 14. However, the Falcons had the only goal to speak of with an evenhanded strike midway through the first. After the Falcons opened up a two-goal lead 13:57 into the third on an even-sided score, the Blugolds struck back with an evenmanned goal of their own less than a minute later as Amanda Alioto (Fr.-Hartland/Arrowhead) scored unassisted. River Falls put the game away in the 19th minute with a power-play goal followed by an empty-netter. The Falcons exploded for 18 shots in the period. In total River Falls had 32 shots on goal to Eau Claire's 20. Mikaela Jobman (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin Derham Hall) picked up the loss while making 28 saves, a team-high this season. The Blugolds had five penalties and went 0-for-4 on advantages. The Falcons went 1-of-5 while collecting four penalties. Eau Claire will play a home-and-away series next weekend against eighth-ranked UW-Stevens Point. Friday's game at Hobbs Ice Center is at 7 p.m. while Saturday's contest in Stevens Point begins at 7:30 p.m.. Eau Claire-River Falls Box Score- PH - |
