Ed. Center. The Blugolds battled the Blue Devils tough in the opening game but eventually fell 30-25. Eau Claire had more attacks and kills than Stout but couldn't overcome nine errors, while the Blue Devils committed only two. Eau Claire came back the next game with their best effort of the match. The Blugolds connected on 18 kills in 44 attacks for a team match-best .295 hitting percentage. Eau Claire couldn't overcome Stout's match-best .356 hitting percentage in losing 31-29. The Blugolds continued to battle the Blue Devils in the third game despite a .077 hitting percentage. The Eau Claire defense gave up 22 kills but also forced Stout into 12 errors keeping the game close. The Blue Devils came through in the end winning the final game 30-28. Molly Menard (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) had a strong game connecting on a team-high 17 kills for a .325 hitting percentage. Jenny Wolter (Jr.-Osceola) added nine kills in 19 attacks for a team-best .368 hitting percentage. Carly Freiborg (So.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) led the Blugolds in assists with 37 and total blocks with four. Shanna Berger (So.-Baldwin/Baldwin-Woodville) led in digs with nine. Eau Claire will be in action next when they host the 8th-ranked UW-Whitewater Friday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. - JL - |
